Sergio Santay was FaceTiming with his brother last Friday as he walked down Bonnie Brae Street in broad daylight. He was telling his brother about his weekend plans, when, all of a sudden, he was stabbed in the neck, all while his brother was on the other end of the FaceTime call.

The rehabilitation project on the north side of the park follows a four-month, $1.5 million improvement project on the park's lakeside portion, which reopened Feb. 22 after closing on Oct. 15.

Fewer than a dozen tents remained at Westlake’s MacArthur Park Friday morning ahead of a temporary closure for major renovations.
