While most people would be horrified to discover a gravesite in their backyards, several Lawndale residents hope it will halt Metro's expansion plans.

A man was fighting for his life at an area hospital after he was shot multiple times at the Harbor Freeway Metro Station in South Los Angeles overnight, officials said.

Randy Nash was arrested for allegedly stabbing a 23-year-old man to death on a Metro train "without warning or provocation."

A person was stabbed Friday at the Metro A (Blue) Line Southwest Museum Station in Highland Park.

Authorities said the victim and suspect got into a fight while both were on the train and during that fight, the victim pulled out a gun as the suspect began to stab him.

A man who formerly lived at a Metro station is now riding one of the city's trains for a job interview.

Mayor Karen Bass said she and the Metro's board will focus in the next year on strengthening public safety, further addressing homelessness on the system and pushing for ridership to return to pre-pandemic levels.

Police say the suspect randomly approached the bus driver and stabbed him in the back.

The Board of Directors approved a motion to develop a plan for Metro's own public safety department, and hopes to deliver the plan by January 2024.

The downtown Los Angeles train system got a major facelift with the opening of three new stations -- the Little Tokyo/Arts District Station, Historic Broadway Station, and the Grand Avenue Arts/Bunker Hill Station.

"Enough is enough. Our trains need to be safe for our residents," LA County Supervisor Janice Hahn said in a statement Monday.

The incident unfolded near Vermont Avenue and Beverly Boulevard with an altercation on the Metro transit platform between a man and a woman.

A Los Angeles police sergeant allegedly had his finger bit off by a man believed to be homeless.
