Non-teacher LAUSD workers, district reach deal in step toward reopening

A union representing non-teachers at Los Angeles Unified -- including custodians, food service workers, truck drivers and other essential workers -- has reached an agreement with the district in preparation for the eventual reopening of schools for in-person instruction, the union announced on Monday.

Coalition urges LAUSD board vote to 'fund black futures, not school police'

A coalition of Black students, parents, teachers and community members called Thursday for the Los Angeles Unified School District board to put $25 million recently cut from the school police budget into campuses with the highest Black student enrollment, including those with higher rates of student arrests and lowest achievement levels.
