Jessica Grajeda and George Luis Almaraz pleaded not guilty Tuesday to murder and torture charges stemming from the death of his 16-year-old son.

"I'm very angry that she said everything was fine, that my son was fine," said the grieving mother.

A 16-year-old boy is dead and his stepmother, Jessica Grajeda, was charged with murder in his death. His father, George Luis Almaraz, also faces charges for allegedly knowing about the ongoing abuse the boy was receiving.

About four dozen migrant children being housed at an intake center at the Long Beach Convention Center have tested positive for COVID-19, along with 14 more at the Pomona Fairplex.

About a hundred migrant children who arrived unaccompanied at the U.S.-Mexico border arrived Saturday at temporary housing at the Pomona Fairplex, which will become the latest waystation sheltering children until they can be reunited with family or placed with sponsors.

Three minors were recovered and 11 people were arrested following a multi-day operation combatting human trafficking in the greater Los Angeles area, authorities said Tuesday.

Fairplex will serve as an emergency intake site to temporarily house unaccompanied minors arriving at the U.S.-Mexico border.

Starting April 7, 16 drive-thru and walk-up COVID-19 vaccine clinics will pop up across Los Angeles County with hopes of providing access to more people. The clinics, which will be held outdoors, are open for everyone and will run through May 1.

Pomona police have rescued a missing 17-year-old girl who told detectives she was a victim of human trafficking, authorities said Saturday. 

A woman was charged Thursday with leading Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies on a wild chase with her 9-year-old daughter in the car, striking multiple vehicles and driving at high speeds and sometimes the wrong way on busy streets.

A 78-year-old woman died after receiving a COVID-19 vaccine at Cal Poly Pomona, but her death is not believed to be related to the vaccine, health officials said.
