STUDY: 'Spare tire' can be worse for your heart than 'love handles'

If you've been walking around with a 'spare tire' around your midsection... Take note.

Researchers say you may be at an increased risk for heart disease compared to someone with just 'love handles.'

The six-year study of more than one thousand adults published in 'The Journal of the American College of Cardiology" found that belly fat especially hidden deep in the gut is unhealthier because it might increase insulin resistance which can lead to type 2 diabetes.

The study suggests even if you have a body mass index in the normal range but have a pot belly you may be at increased cardiovascular risk.
