Los Angeles Schools police officer charged with stealing $27,000 in alleged payroll scheme

A Los Angeles Schools police officer was charged Thursday with stealing approximately $27,000 from her employer in an alleged payroll scheme over a three-year period, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office announced.

Juliana Casique, 34, was charged with four counts of grand theft and one count of forgery.

Casique is accused of manipulating the timekeeping and payroll systems of the Los Angeles Unified School District. According to the DA's office, she allegedly was paid on 63 occasions between 2014 and 2017 for shifts and overtime she did not work.

If convicted of the crimes, Casique faces a possible maximum sentence of five years and eight months in state prison to be served in local custody.

The case remains under investigation by the Los Angeles Schools Police Department.
