Kayaker killed by boat off Marina del Rey

(FOX 11/CNS) - A female kayaker was struck and killed by a boat in Marina del Rey, a sheriff's lieutenant said.

The accident took place at about 1:10 p.m. near the south jetty, said Lt. Deryl Walker of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

"At this point there is no indication that a crime occurred, but the investigation was still ongoing," Walker said.

The name of the woman was withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The driver of the boat was not cited, Walker said.
