Judo for juniors: Future Judo masters

Move over Ronda Rousey a whole new generation of Judo masters are on the horizon. Many of them girls!!!

Pint sized martial artists from 4-years old to 17 train at San Gabriel Judo Dojo, many of them ranked in the top five in the country.

Head Sensei Richie Endow says "Judo helps girls especially develop strength, core stability, and self confidence. It also teaches all the kids a sense of discipline and healthy sportsmanship."

14-year old, Izzy Coulter is currently ranked #1 in the country, she says she likes the challenge of the sport and has fun meeting people from all over the world.

Size and weight don't really matter when their technique is on point and that's why these judo students train four hours at a time. It's the second most participated sport in the world, next to soccer. Internationally, the rules are the same wherever you practice or compete.

Head coach Mike Noriega says "we drill hundreds of techniques everyday but the most important lesson for these kids, we tell them always to work hard and do your best, and do the right thing when no one else is watching."
