DMV adding more people, hours, self-service kiosks to reduce wait times

Lines at the Department of Motor Vehicles will hopefully be getting shorter!

There's been a serious uptick in the number of people going to the DMV because of the new federally regulated ID.

So the DMV is taking 240 workers its headquarters, other departments and agencies to help out.

That's in addition to the 500 new hires and, extended hours.

The DMV is also trying a couple of new programs to speed up the wait including texting customers when their service number comes up.

Expanding its self-service kiosks at grocery stores.

And, adding self-service kiosks for people with appointments.
