Top 5 Worst Water Wasters

Most of us are taking shorter showers, driving around with filthy cars and letting our rhododendron die---all to save water during this critical drought. But not everyone is making sacrifices.

Some of the wealthiest areas of the city in West LA are using water like it's.... Well.... Water. One home in Bel-Air used almost 12 million gallons of water last year-- that's enough to supply an estimated 90 houses.

The water bill for that home.... 90-thousand dollars! Despite the pleas, there is no way for local agencies to stop excessive water use....

A DWP official said there is no ordinance on the books to go after an individual customer.

The center for investigative reporting compiled the data and here's what they came up with.

Four of the five worst water wasters are in Bel-Air.
The fifth is in Beverly Hills.
All 10 of the worst guzzlers are in West Los Angeles.

They surveyed homes for one year ending April first 2015.
