A spokesperson from the University of California San Francisco medical center reported a male patient is under care for blood clotting after he received the Johnson and Johnson vaccine.

According to a CDC report, up to five million people nationwide have skipped their second dose.

Los Angeles County reported 408 new cases of COVID-19 and five additional deaths on Sunday, though health officials said the relatively low numbers may reflect delays in weekend reporting.   

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention formally lifted its pause on the Johnson & Johnson vaccine after a panel on Friday recommended resuming the use of Johnson & Johnson’s COVID-19 vaccine, despite a very rare risk of blood clots.

Large-scale vaccination sites operated by Los Angeles County began offering appointment-free shots Thursday, and the walk-in inoculations will continue today through Monday while vaccine supplies last.

The California State University and University of California systems jointly announced Thursday that they intend to require all students, faculty and staff returning for on-campus classes and activities to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
