A new report reveals nearly 70% of teachers within the Los Angeles Unified School District considered leaving the education profession due to "the material conditions within the district."

Teachers have voted overwhelmingly to boycott the first of four "optional" instruction days that were added to the LAUSD's academic calendar this year without union negotiations.

About 11% of the LAUSD population was absent on the first day of school.

The fall semester for the Los Angeles Unified School District begins Aug. 15.

In a press release, protesters said when students and staff return to campus Monday for the start of the school year, they “will be met with lead levels 75x higher than what the Environmental Protection Agency defines as a hazardous threshold.”

As the kiddos return to school, the Los Angeles Police Department is reminding the public to keep safety a top priority.

Superintendent Alberto Carvalho visited the homes of students who struggled to attend classes. The visit is a part of the iAttend LAUSD Campaign to improve the district's student attendance rate.

The Los Angeles Unified School District revealed its COVID safety protocols for the upcoming school year, which begins Aug. 15. There will be no mandatory testing and no required use of masks indoors or outdoors.

The mother claims her son was offered a piece of pizza in exchange for a COVID shot and then allegedly coerced into forging his mom's signature.

“For many of our students, these are the only running shoes they will get all year. It’s upsetting to think that these materials were taken from the children in our community who need them most,” Students Run LA said in a statement.

A judge ruled in favor of the father of a 12-year-old student who challenged LAUSD's student coronavirus vaccine mandate, finding that the resolution approving the directive clashes with state law.
