Image 1 of 4

Chappie – Rotten at 33%

Starring: Hugh Jackman, Sigourney Weaver, Dev Patel, Sharlto Copley, Ninja & Yolandi (Die Antwoord)

Directed by: Neill Blomkamp (District 9, Elysium)

In Johannesburg in the near future, a police robot is giving new programming that gives him real consciousness, but he's raised and taught by local gangsters.

Critics don't like it. There are big ideas at play here, and the effects are impressive, but the film doesn't really deliver on the story's promise, and the tone is uneven. I was disappointed.

Unfinished Business – Rotten at 7%

Starring: Vince Vaughn, Tom Wilkinson, Dave Franco, Nick Frost

Directed by: Ken Scott (Delivery Man)

A small business owner and his two associates travel to Europe to close an important deal, but the trip goes off the rails.

Critics hate it. It's unfocused and unfunny, with a slipshod screenplay and uneven performances.

The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel – Fresh at 63%

Starring: Judi Dench, Maggie Smith, Bill Nighy, Dev Patel, Penelope Wilton, David Strathairn, Richard Gere

Directed by: John Madden (Mrs. Brown, Shakespeare in Love, Best Exotic Marigold Hotel)

The co-managers of the Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, Muriel & Sonny (Smith & Patel) decide to expand their operation, and they'll need their friends from the first film to help.

Critics like it. If you liked the first film, you'll probably like this one – most of the cast returns, and it's got a similar tone and sense of humor.
