Local reaction to Atlanta filings against officers in deadly shooting of Rayshard Brooks

More than a dozen separate protests were held on Wednesday. Demanding racial justice and equality and calling for defunding police.

LOS ANGELES - It was the weekly BLM rally asking for LA County DA Jackie Lacy’s removal from office, but some of the talk was about Atlanta.

“They seem to have their act together, are you listening Lacy?” said one protester in downtown Los Angeles.

As much as there were positive feelings about the Atlanta DA’s move, there is also a “wait and see” attitude.

Prosecuting law enforcement has proven difficult, with juries leaning to give officers the benefit of the doubt.

Convictions are rare, although there seems to be increased awareness say some activists, to the issue.

Many here are hoping jury pools include some of the people who, for the first time, are finding themselves protesting, for Black Lives Matter issues.
