Crews in Riverside County rescue burro stuck inside sinkhole

Animal Services officers and construction crews came together to help rescue a burro who got stuck inside a sinkhole.

Riverside County Animal Services say the burro slipped into the hole early Thursday morning in an area just east of Highgrove.

They say it appears the sinkhole formed shortly after the rain – which softened the dirt.

With the help of construction crews from Inland Erosion Control, animal service officers were able to safely get the burro out. Crews made a makeshift dirt ramp and the burro walked out on its own and appeared to be uninjured, animal services said.

It is not known how long the burro was in the whole for.
