Bruce Springsteen writes tardy note for young fan in California

LOS ANGELES (FOX 11) - A young Bruce Springsteen fan got out of being late to class in the most rock 'n' roll way possible.

"The Boss" signed a note for Xabi Glovsky, 9, of Claremont, Calif., after the singer's sold-out show last week in Los Angeles that Glovsky attended with his dad.

They caught the Springsteen's eye with a homemade sign that read: "Bruce, I will be late to school tomorrow. Please sign my note :)"

Dad, Scott Glovsky, posted photos on Twitter of the two together backstage.

Springsteen wrote:

"Dear Ms. Jackson,

Xabi has been out very late rocking and rolling. Please excuse him if he is tardy!

Best,
Bruce Springsteen"

"Although there were many musicians and celebrities at the concert, we were the first people to see him after the show," Scott told the Claremont Courier. "He asked him for the name of his teacher, and how he spelled his name. He then pulled out a piece of paper and a pen. As Xabi sat next to him on the couch, Bruce thoughtfully created this beautiful note."

Scott told the Courier he has attended more than 100 Springsteen concerts in the last three decades -- and the memorable moment with his son was more than he could have ever asked for.

"I have been singing Xabi to sleep with Bruce Springsteen songs since he was born," he explained.

"I imagine that idols rarely live up to your expectations. Bruce lived up to every expectation a 9-year-old boy could have -- or a 48-year-old boy."
