Big Mike Rob, friend to the aspiring artist

For aspiring artists it is a challenge to be seen and heard. Where can one get the live experience of being in front of an audience?

Big Mike Rob set out to provide such platforms for entertainers to entertain.

For the past eight years he's been in Los Angeles involved in opportunities from schools, to stages, to the internet.

Big Mike Rob, whose full name is Mike Robinson, started with underprivileged youth in the Bay area. He made his way to L.A. with the BETexperience.

For Big Mike Rob, it's more than just song and dance. He says education comes first. His goal is to teach young people the value of their education when it comes to life skills. When it comes to music he says it is also about teaching young people about the business side, whether its producing, management or other behind the scenes jobs.

On the marketing team for Vlado Footwear, Big Mike Rob is also in the business of artist development. Some of his events are sponsored, others are free, and yet others can have a fee.

The KOD - Keep On Dancing event was a sponsored world championship for street dance teams. Dancers from eight countries battled for a prize of 100 thousand dollars. South Korea won.

He's known for gathering folks in the music business to share their wisdom. He also hosts a weekly radio internet show offering up-and-coming singers and rappers a chance to be interviewed. His latest event was speaking to schools about bullying. He's also worked with the LAPD and Vlado on a shoe give-away.
