Shooting involving Covina police under investigation in Valinda

Officer involved in San Gabriel Valley shooting

The Covina Police Department and the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department were investigating the shooting in the Valinda area.

VALINDA, Calif. - An investigation is underway in Valinda following a shooting involving a Covina police detective Wednesday.

It happened around 2:45 a.m. in the area Summer Place and Valinda.

According to authorities, a suspect in a black SUV shot at an unmarked, undercover LA Impact Task Force vehicle then fled the scene.

Officials said the officers did not shoot back. No officers were hit.

No other information was immediately available.
