Superintendent Alberto Carvalho said the district will not pay the ransom demand or negotiate with hackers.

In the wake of the recent suspected fentanyl poisoning cases, LAUSD will soon stock its campuses with Narcan doses on-site.

LAPD said at least seven teens, including a 15-year-old who died a week ago, have overdosed in the past month from pills believed to have contained fentanyl.

The LAUSD has not responded about the unspecified demand.

“They were not happy to know we were being censored or there’s an attempt to take some information down," Adriana Chavira said.

The LAPD said that two juveniles, ages 15 and 16, have been arrested after multiple students were poisoned, one fatally, by fentanyl-laced pills.

A 15-year-old student at Bernstein High School is dead and another teen was hospitalized after overdosing on pills they purchased at Lexington Park in Hollywood. Investigators say the pills were laced with fentanyl.

The resolution allows Superintendent Alberto Carvalho to sign emergency contracts to "ensure the continuation of public education, and the safety and security of its data, networks and servers" without advertising or inviting bids for any dollar amount necessary, for a period of one year.

Authorities confirmed the reports of a shooting were unsubstantiated.
