Schools close due to growing Tick Fire, poor air quality

Schools announced closures Friday due to The Tick Fire and poor air quality in the area. 

The fast-moving-moving brush fire ignited in Canyon Country Thursday afternoon and continued to grow toward the Santa Clarita area. Mandatory evacuation orders were in place.

All schools within the Castaic Union School District, Hart School District, Newhall School District, Saugu School District and Sulphur Springs Union School District were closed.

The following schools were also closed on Friday:

-College of the Canyons
 Canyon Country campus closed

-Master's University in Santa Clarita

-All schools within the Acton Agua Dulce Unified School District 

-All San Fernando Valley schools within the Los Angeles Unified School District
-Community Elementary
-Roscomare Road Elementary
-Topanga Elementary Schools
-Valley View Elementary
-Wonderland Avenue Elementary
-Elementary Day School

-Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District
Malibu Elementary School
Malibu Middle School
Malibu High School
Webster Elementary School

-Primetime Preschool (Santa Clarita)

-Bishop Alemany High School (Mission Hills) 

A total of 15 schools run by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles in the San Fernando and Santa Clarita valleys canceled classes scheduled for Friday.
   Those schools are:

   -Our Lady of Grace (Encino)
   -Our Lady of Lourdes Parish School (Northridge)
   -Our Lady of Perpetual Help (Santa Clarita)
   -Our Lady of the Valley (Canoga Park)
   -Santa Rosa de Lima (San Fernando
   -St. Bridget of Sweden (Van Nuys)
   -St. Cyril of Jerusalem (Encino)
   -St. Didacus (Sylmar)
   -St. Euphrasia  (Granada Hills)
   -St. John Eudes (Chatsworth)
   -St. Ferdinand (San Fernando)
   -St. Joseph the Worker (Winnetka)
