Residents at Santa Clarita RV park being told to move out within 10 days

Residents at an RV park in Santa Clarita are being told to pack up and move out.

Those living at Cali Lake RV Resort had originally been told they had 90 days to move out but now that timeline has changed to just 10 days.

Now more than 100 residents are facing homelessness with nowhere to turn to.

Chris Walker and his wife Linette have called the Cali Lake RV Park home for five years.

"We moved here just because we knew... we owned the motor home we needed to find someplace inexpensive because of my medical issues," said Walker.

On Saturday Chris and about a hundred other residents were told they would have to pack up and go in ten days.

"There is a list and they had their own process selecting who was going to stay and who was going to go," stated resident Kristie Austin.

Aspiring filmmaker Kristie Austin was also told to move out.

“I’m lucky enough I have a decent enough RV that I can go to another park - but there is a lot of people here who are older they just don't have the means," she said.

RV park manager Serena French says it's the state that is forcing the move of so many people.

"We were sent a letter from the state - we are to go down to 47 spaces," mentioned French.

47 is the maximum number of spaces allowed by law under the parks current conditional use permit.

So why was 60 additional spaces built and sold before the new permit was approved?

“They have honored other things on our cup because it's in review -- but for some reason this - they will not honor. It makes no sense at all. I just don't understand how they can put people out like this," added French.

People like Chris and his wife blame the new owner for up-ending the lives of more than 100 residents.

“He came in and started doing all this construction and adding all these spaces knowing that he could have only 47," added Walker.
