Midday Sunday: Los Angeles County Federation of Labor

This has been a good year for the people whose work makes Los Angeles work as a place.

Over the past two months, the City of Los Angeles became the largest city in the United States with a minimum wage law that will reach $15 an hour by 2020.

The County of Los Angeles is now the largest governmental agency in the nation with the same minimum wage law.

None of this would have happened without the enthusiastic support of Los Angeles' labor unions, 300 of them, representing 600,000 men and women, under the umbrella of the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor.

Rusty Hicks, the Executive Secretary-Treasurer, is this week's Midday Sunday guest. More information about Hicks and "The Fed" is available at launionaflcio.org.
