Resentencing hearing for Menendez Brothers postponed to Mar. 2025
LOS ANGELES - The resentencing hearing for the Menendez Brothers is being pushed back by nearly two months.
Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman's office announced on Friday that the resentencing hearing for Erik and Lyle Menendez – originally scheduled for Jan. 30-31 – is being pushed back to the new dates of Mar. 20 and 21.
The DA's office briefly explained in a press release that the postponement of the hearings comes in the wake of the recent fires and how they may have impacted the "parties' extensive preparations of the hearings."
The announcement of the delays comes in the wake of the years-long bid to get the Menendez Brothers' prison sentences to be revisited. Both Erik and Lyle Menendez have been serving life sentences for the 1989 murder of their parents.
While the brothers have remained behind bars, a family-led coalition has since come forward with evidences and testimonies of Erik and Lyle Menendez facing abuse prior to them murdering their parents.
The Menendez brothers' defense team has filed a petition and requested clemency from Governor Gavin Newsom, but a decision is pending Hochman's review of the case.
