Man shot, killed inside South Los Angeles marijuana dispensary

A man was fatally shot Thursday inside a marijuana dispensary in the South Los Angeles area, and police were seeking whoever killed him.

LOS ANGELES - A man was fatally shot Thursday inside a marijuana dispensary in the South Los Angeles area.

Officers responded to reports of a shooting at the business in the 8100 block of South Broadway, near 81st Street, about 1 a.m. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The name of the fatally wounded man, who was in his 20s, was withheld, pending family notification.

According to reports from the scene, the location is an unlicensed marijuana dispensary and the victim worked there. A description of the suspect or suspects was not immediately available, nor was a motive for the crime.

Authorities said that two people were detained for questioning, it was not immediately clear whether they are suspects.

"We work tirelessly here at South Bureau Homicide," LAPD Capt. Billy Brockway told reporters. "The detectives don't sleep ... because we know that the suspects who perpetrated this crime, they're not sleeping. But more than anything, the families of our victim, they're not sleeping as well."
