Loud noise causes panic, fears of active shooter at Anaheim Convention Center

A sudden loud noise at the Anaheim Convention Center Thursday morning sparked panic and fears of an active shooter.

Anaheim police say a fire alarm went off prompting someone to yell “active shooter”. That sparked a stampede of people trying to evacuate the building.

Convention center officials and police quickly confirmed that there was no shots fired or any threat to the public.

An event for the American Association for Clinical Chemistry was being held in the center at the time of the incident,

With the recent mass shootings people have been seeing more incidents like this. Earlier in the week a vehicle backfired causing panic at Times Square, hundreds of people ran for cover after mistaking the backfire for gunfire.
