Long Beach police reunite stolen dog with owner; Suspects arrested
LONG BEACH (FOX 11) - Two women accused of pushing an elderly man to the ground and stealing his dog have been arrested and now Chewie is back home with his rightful owner.
After a check up at Long Beach Animal Care, Chewie was returned to his owner Ana Licea this weekend after he was stolen Friday.
Licea's 73-year-old step-father was walking Chewie Friday morning in Long Beach when two women assaulted him and ran off with the dog, according to authorities.
Long Beach police tracked them to a home in South Gate.
Officers arrested the women, and recovered Chewie.
Chewie is a Maltese Yorkie mix that the thieves may have wanted to sell.
The dog is now back home and the two suspects are facing a long list of criminal charges.
