Latino voters react to Joe Biden's DNC speech

Joe Biden formally accepted the Democratic Party's nomination for president during his speech Thursday.

Biden spoke at the Democratic National Convention and touched on a number of issues including the Covid-19 pandemic and the economy.

Hernan Molina, a political analyst, spoke about the importance of energizing Latino voters.

"The Biden campaign has to have a concrete plan and has to share that plan, has to verbalize and communicate it, has to reach out to Latinos and incorporate Latino people in the campaign, in the messaging," said Molina.

Molina said there are a number of issues to tackle concerning the Latino community.

"What is he going to do once he becomes President? If he wins the White House, clearly immigration reform is something that's very important, but Latinos also care about economics, care about progress, care about the education of their children, how are their families going to be protected," said Molina.

Monica Jaramillo spoke to Fox 11 after watching Biden's speech.

"I thought it was great. I was just so excited to hear from him, to hear his plan," said Jaramillo.

Jaramillo said she wanted him to address the pandemic.

"It's the most important thing on top of people's minds besides the economy. I thought it was pretty bold for him that he's going to implement a mandatory mask mandate. I know people are going to lose it, but we need a plan," said Jaramillo.

Jaramillo said there are issues she would like the next administration to address.

"As a Latina woman, I would like kids out of cages. I want a good plan for immigration reform that works," she said.

The DNC also paid tribute to Biden's late son, Beau Biden, ahead of Biden's speech.
