Driver arrested following standoff, pursuit from Yorba Linda to Diamond Bar

A man who led Orange County sheriff's deputies on a chase from Yorba Linda to Diamond Bar was arrested Wednesday after a standoff, authorities said.

According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, deputies observed the suspect driving a red sedan erratically just after 2:30 a.m. Deputies attempted to stop the "possible DUI" suspect. However, the suspect failed to yield and a brief pursuit began.

"During the pursuit, the suspect vehicle intentionally collided with a patrol unit, thankfully not injuring the deputy,'' the sheriff's department said in a statement.

The suspect led deputies to a Diamond Bar neighborhood near the intersection of Diamond Bar Boulevard and Pathfinder Road. The suspect informed deputies he had a gun and other weapons inside the vehicle.

A SWAT team and K9 unit were called to the scene.

By 7 a.m., the suspect surrendered.

His name was not immediately released.
