Study: High-fructose corn syrup may fuel tumor growth

There is more evidence about the health risks of high-fructose corn syrup.

A new study out says that corn syrup is not only linked to obesity, but it may also fuel cancer growth.

This latest research is found in the journal 'Science.'

Researchers used mice predisposed to colon cancer as a model and found that they grew larger tumors when given the equivalent of only one soda per day.

'This study revealed the surprising result that colorectal cancers utilize high-fructose corn syrup, the major ingredient in most sugary sodas and many other processed foods, as a fuel to increase rates of tumor growth', according to the researchers behind the study.

The study finds more than enough evidence that sugar promotes cancer growth.

Experts say people with colon cancer, or those at high risk, should avoid sugary drinks.
