Oakland warehouse fire: Friends, family mourn

Family and friends are taking to social media to seek our more information regarding their loved ones that are missing after an fire at an "underground dance party" in Oakland.

9 people are confirmed dead and 25 others are unaccounted for in the three-alarm fire that broke out at 11:30 Friday night.

A memorial will be held tonight at Chapel of the Chimes in Oakland from 5-7.

The building is a warehouse and described as a live/work residence where many artists had workspaces set up. It is known as the Oakland Ghostship.

On Friday night, Golden Donna, an electronic performer, was one of those performing at the space. It was an event a part of the "Golden Donna 100% Silk West Coast Tour" and had reportedly drawn 50-100 people to the warehouse.

There is a list of those unaccounted for on the event's Facebook page, and loved ones are commenting with photos, contact information, and updates.

Many in the Oakland community are sharing their photos, videos, and well wishes.

In addition, a Google Spreadsheet has been created where people are updating the status of those that were unaccounted for.

Golden Donna, or Joel Shanahan, has updated his Facebook page saying that he is safe, but heartbroken.

Online fundraisers have also been started to support victims of the fire. Here is the link to one fundraiser.
