Man smashes 29 car windows in Koreatown

A man was arrested Monday night for allegedly smashing windows of more than 20 cars in the Koreatown area of Los Angeles, authorities said.

It happened at about 9:15 p.m. at Third and Berendo streets, said Sgt. F. Carrillo of the Los Angeles Police Department's Olympic Station.

``He was walking down the street and smashing the windshields of over 20 vehicles,'' Carrillo said.

Witnesses called 911.

The suspect was wielding an object that looked like a hand saw, he said.

Arriving officers observed the man, believed about 30 years-old, ``continuously smashing vehicle windows,'' Carrillo said.

Officers took the suspect into custody without further incident for suspicion of felony vandalism, he said.

Officers continued to assess the damage, he said.
