Northridge man accused of assaulting CSUN students pleads not guilty

SAN FERNANDO, Calif. - A 27-year-old Northridge man accused of assaulting two women a day apart in 2018 at CSUN pled not guilty in court on Friday.

Authorities say Peter Wei assaulted one woman near a parking lot on campus on Nov. 27, 2018 and another woman the next day before he was arrested by Cal State Northridge police.

One of the victims, a CSUN student, took out her cell phone and recorded the moments a man lunged at her and choked her with his two hands. Authorities say the man in the video was Wei and he has no affiliation with the university.

Wei was charged on Nov. 30, 2018 with two felony counts of assault to commit a felony, including rape, sodomy or oral copulation, and one misdemeanor count each of battery and resisting, delaying, or obstructing a peace officer. His bail was set at $1 million.

Wei is due back in court on March 13 and faces a maximum sentence of 13 1/2 years in state prison if convicted, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.
