Having fun at the O.C. Fair means finding ways to beat to heat
So, the first stop for the Markos family is the spray park. It's a popular way for the kids to cool off.
"The kids wanted to go to the fair and we knew it was going to be really hot so I do remember the water area last year and we brought their bathing suits this time," mom, Melissa Markos, said. "We thought lets go early, get their wristbands, go play in the water and then we'll hit the rides."
Many other parents had the same idea.
"It was very hot when we first came, but we got on a few rides and ended up here at the water area to kind of cool down," mom, Tania Morgan, said. "We got some icy's and water and we're staying hydrated."
Temperatures in Costa Mesa saw a highs in the mid-80s on Thursday, but this weekend's heat wave will bump up temperatures even more.
This year, fair organizers have added more shade pavilions on the fair grounds.
There's also an escape from the heat inside the exhibits with air conditioning.
"You get some shade and there's restrooms nearby and you get to look at some art pieces," fair goer, Veronica Magana, said.
And you can't go to the fair without talking about the food.
There's a big selection of ice cream and frozen drinks to help cool off.
Parents said keeping kids hydrated is key to surviving a full day here.
"Park in the shade as often as possible and drink about four bottles of water about 3 Diet Pepsi's," grandpa, Tom Roccapalumbo, said.
Shade, food and cools drinks and fun is on the forecast.
