CHP officers rescue miniature horse stranded on 91 Freeway
California Highway Patrol was investigating a hit-and-run after they found a pony stranded on the 91 Freeway with scratches and abrasions Sunday morning.
CHP officers assigned to the Santa Fe Springs area found the horse on westbound lanes of the 91 Freeway at Cherry Avenue around 9:45 a.m.
A little girl who lives just north of the freeway was riding the horse when it got away from her, CHP said.
A team of experienced wranglers were able to rescue the horse and return it the owner, CHP said in a caption posted to Instagram.
A hit-and-run investigation was launched after the driver of an SUV that hit the horse and left the scene, CHP said.
