Back to School Report: Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District provides options for fall semester
LOS ANGELES - FOX 11 is beginning a new series called "Back to School Report" in hopes of helping parents and students get ready for the 2020-21 school year.
Parents were informed earlier this week that students who attend school within the Los Angeles Unified School District, the second-largest school district in the country, will not be returning for in-person learning when the new school year starts next month.

• More SoCal school districts opt to start 2020-21 school year online
Other Southern California school districts are trying to plan out what they will do a month from now.
One district has decided to implement a hybrid model and school districts like Santa Ana and Long Beach will be instructing children entirely online.
Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District is working out a way to get students back in the classroom for the upcoming fall semester.
Five-year-old Aria Sedano has been remote learning since March and her mom, Kelly, has been taking on the role of an educator.
Aria is set to start first grade in the Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District.
"We will be offering a distance learning option for families that won't come back and we will be offering a hybrid model which will be half the time in class and half time at home. So essentially a student would go to school 50 percent of the time," PVPUSD Superintendent Alex Cherniss explained.
Students would only be on campus for a few hours a day, but any time away from home is a good idea to Kelly.
"Even if she goes to school for two hours a day its better than what is happening right now," she said.
To ensure health and safety, the district is taking many precautions for when their 11,000 students do go back to campus.
"There will be PPE equipment that teachers will be wearing. Kids will be wearing face coverings. They'll be 6 feet apart when they are not in the classroom. We will have really organized ways to enter the school to exit the school to go to the bathroom. There will be cleaning protocols in place when kids leave the classrooms," Cherniss said.
Parents will have the option of choosing the hybrid model or solely remote learning.
There will be support for students with disabilities as well as mental health support for everyone.
