7-year-old California boy dies after allegedly being drowned by his mom

Two young kids have died after their mother allegedly drowned them in a ditch.

45-year-old Sherri Telnas was arrested on June 29th after officers found her two sons unresponsive in an irrigation ditch in Tulare County.

Both kids were rushed to a hospital where the 12-year-old boy died. An autopsy later revealed the cause of death to be ruled as fresh water drowning.

His younger brother, who is 7-years-old, passed away on July 7th as a result of the injuries he sustained.

An autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.

On June 29th the Tulare County Sheriff's office said someone called 911 to report that Sherri Telnas was acting strangely and had taken her sons to a corn field across the street from their rural home in Porterville. That is where officers located both boys.

One July 3rd, Telnas pleaded not guilty to murder and attempted murder charges. A judge denied bail for her.

Telnas was sentenced in 2009 to the custody of Montana health officials for two 10-year sentences running consecutively for trying to drown her baby.

She got custody of her sons in late 2010 as part of her divorce, court records said. The judge found that she was doing well in her treatment with her psychiatrist, was holding down a job and her relationship with her son Jackson "appears to be very loving."

A GoFundMe account has been created for the family.
