Cold and Snowy Big Bear

If you love cold, snowy weather Big Bear was the place to be Thursday and Friday. It snowed and that made for good tubing and skiing. Photographer Gino Arias did some downhill videography from the top of Snow Summit. He got some great shots you can see in our video story, but also said the skiing was bad. Mostly powder.

For some, this is their first big snow weekend. Magdalena Martinez told us, "I've never seen snow fall before. So, this is amazing to me. David Wock described it as "beautiful, fantastic and a winter wonderland."

But, for some the hills weren't much fun. Thursday night a sudden snow storm made mountain roads too icy. Cars slid.. a bunch of them got stuck for as much as 14 hours. But, some people, like the Fosters of El Segundo packed knowing there could be problems. Kris Foster said, "We need to pack enough for everyone to have water and sleeping bags just in case you get stuck on the side of the road."

Then there's the Galinda Family from Alhambra. They love the snow, showed us how the form a tube circle and come down the hill like a big family. Fun to watch. You can see that in the video story too.

Bottomline, make sure if you make a winter trip to a snow resort take chains. You never know when you might need them.
