Jesse Ventura considering running for President as an independent

Jesse Ventura 2020?

The former Minnesota Governor is considering running for President as an independent.

“I have that voice in the back of my head that says, ‘if not you, then who?’”
Ventura gave his first American TV interview in three years to Elex Michaelson from FOX 11 Los Angeles’ “The Issue Is: with Elex Michaelson.”

He said he’s thinking about challenging the President from the middle.

“The only way for the country to be re-united is to elect an independent president,” he said.

Ventura said he won’t make a decision until Republicans and Democrats select their nominees.

“I may be doing things behind the scenes right now…[but] you got to wait until its down to two.”

In the past, he’s considered pursuing the Green Party’s nomination. Ventura plans on heading to Mexico for the winter. Then, he said, he will make a decision about the presidential race.

In the meantime, he hosts a weekly show for RT America called “The World According to Jesse.”

Ventura shocked the political world back in 1998 when he defeated the political establishment from both parties. In some respects, he said, President Trump learned from his approach. Trump came to Minnesota shortly after the win in 1998 and spent time with Ventura. They became friends.

“Today, I don’t like him at all. I would much prefer Donald Trump the conman real estate guy, rather than Donald Trump, the conman president,” Ventura said.

“I don’t want a religious person telling me about government, I don’t want a government person telling me about religion, and I don’t want a draft dodger telling me what’s patriotic,” he said.

In the full interview, Ventura also addresses marijuana legalization, climate change, wrestling today, and more.
