The UC Irvine protest took a dramatic turn as police tore down the pro-Palestine encampment and are arresting demonstrators one by one.

Loay Alnaji has been charged with involuntary manslaughter for the death of Paul Kessler back in November 2023 after an altercation at dueling Israel-Palestine protests.

Hundreds of pro-Palestinian protesters gathered outside the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on Sunday and attempted to disrupt Pomona College's graduation ceremony.

The person "was continuing to present a danger to those within the encampment," and wasn't connected to the protesters, according to the university.

The main commencement ceremony has been moved to the historic Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.

USC's Academic Senate, which represents the university faculty, formally censured President Carol Folt and Provost Andrew Guzman over their handling of the university commencement and campus protests.

The action came about a month after 19 students were arrested while taking part in a sit-in at the university president's office.

Police and UCLA officials were criticized for officers' lack of response to an attack on a pro-Palestine encampment on campus.

At least 40 people were detained at UCLA Monday, the day the university was supposed to resume in-person classes.

USC resumed classes and continued graduation preparations Monday after a pro-Palestinian encampment was cleared by officers.

Peaceful protests continue at UC Irvine, while demonstrators at UC Riverside reached a deal with university leadership. Other protests continue across SoCal.

“UC administrators are solely responsible for the University’s response to campus protests, and they own all the fallout from those responses," the union that serves campus police officers said.
