USC's Academic Senate, which represents the university faculty, formally censured President Carol Folt and Provost Andrew Guzman over their handling of the university commencement and campus protests.

The action came about a month after 19 students were arrested while taking part in a sit-in at the university president's office.

Police and UCLA officials were criticized for officers' lack of response to an attack on a pro-Palestine encampment on campus.

At least 40 people were detained at UCLA Monday, the day the university was supposed to resume in-person classes.

USC resumed classes and continued graduation preparations Monday after a pro-Palestinian encampment was cleared by officers.

Peaceful protests continue at UC Irvine, while demonstrators at UC Riverside reached a deal with university leadership. Other protests continue across SoCal.

“UC administrators are solely responsible for the University’s response to campus protests, and they own all the fallout from those responses," the union that serves campus police officers said.

“It was for a cause I believed in, and I was surrounded by my fellow students," said one of the demonstrators. “I’m proud [for] being arrested".

After another day of violent protests at UCLA, Chancellor Gene Block released another statement saying the university is in “deep pain".

More than 200 people were arrested Thursday as authorities dismantled the growing pro-Palestine encampment at UCLA.

Pro-Palestine demonstrators said police stood by and watched as violence erupted Tuesday night. One of the groups demands is an end to policing on campus.

Tuesday night multiple fights broke out and firecrackers exploded outside the makeshift gates of the Pro-Palestine encampment.

Demonstrators said "the university would rather see us dead than divest" after counterprotesters attacked a pro-Palestinian encampment Tuesday night. On Wednesday the LAPD issued a dispersal order for the encampment.
