Two days after a heartbreaking fall during the U.S. Olympic track trials, runner Alysia Montano stood back up, dusted herself off and joined us with her beautiful family on Good Day LA.

"I've just recently been able to put together my thoughts. At the time when I had fallen, I thought I would just be able to get right back up," she explained. "I got up and I looked up and I saw how far away the girls were. I feel like my body kind of lost its strength in a way... It was really a mind, body and heart struggle."

With the race still fresh in her mind, Montano said the most important thing was to finish.

"I've learned with this sport, there's been a lot of triumphs. There's been many setbacks, but at the end of the day, it really is about how you finish and that's always been my motto, and I made sure that I saw it through," she said.

The 30-year-old American distance runner is a six-time USA Outdoor champion, but perhaps is most well-known for a run in 2014 that she did not win. She finished last while running 8-months pregnant.

This time around, both her husband and baby Linnea were by her side during Monday's race.

"Seeing them right beside me meant the whole entire world to me."
