Woman, 28, dies after being hit by car while changing flat tire

A woman who was fatally injured when hit by an SUV while changing a flat tire on the side of a road in the Antelope Valley was a 28-year-old Lake Los Angeles resident, authorities said Monday.

The accident occurred about 7 p.m. Saturday on 240th Street East, south of Avenue O, the California Highway Patrol reported.

Julia Nores died at a hospital on Sunday, said coroner's Assistant Chief Ed Winter.

According to the CHP, Nores was changing a flat when she was hit by a northbound GMC Suburban. A 22-year-old man standing near her was also hit, but survived with only leg pain, the CHP reported.

The Suburban was driven by a 47-year-old woman whose name was not released. She was not arrested or cited, the CHP reported.
