Two men remain at large after a car plowed into a homeless encampment in Harbor City.
LOS ANGELES - Three people were injured after the driver of a suspected stolen car slammed into tents at a homeless encampment in Harbor City early Tuesday morning, officials said.
Lomita Station deputies with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department were in pursuit of a stolen Blue Hyundai Elantra when the driver lost control near the intersection of Vermont Avenue and Lomita Boulevard around 3 a.m., according to sheriff's officials.
Surveillance footage from nearby business Zachers Automotive showed the moments before the car slammed into the tents at a high rate of speed.
Three of the suspects exited the vehicle and took off running, while a few people living inside the encampment chased them. They were able to hold one of the suspects down until deputies arrived.
A male victim was taken to Kaiser Permanente South Bay Medical Center for a shoulder injury and two others suffered minor injuries, said sheriff's officials.
The other two suspects remain at large.
No arrests were made and the investigation is ongoing.
