Suspected drunken driver crashes into Redlands home

REDLANDS, Calif. (FOX 11) - Lee Hernandez was brought to tears Wednesday as he looked at what's left of his family home after a suspected drunk driver crashed right into it.

The crash happened Tuesday just after 11 p.m. on the corner of Clay Street and Brockton Avenue in Redlands. Hernandez had been watching television.

His 87-year-old mother and 60-year-old sister were also awake when suddenly they heard tires screeching and a wall came crashing down.

Police said 27-year-old Jason Sheridan of Yucaipa was behind the wheel of the Dodge Challenger when he lost control of the car, jumped the curb, took out the fence and slammed straight into the kitchen.

Hernandez, who had been in the back house rushed to find his family and fearing the worst.

With help from neighbors and a passing good Samaritan, the family was rescued, along with the their four dogs. Sheridan's 24-year-old passenger was also injured and taken to the hospital.

Meanwhile, Redlands police officers gave him a field sobriety test and arrested Sheridan on suspicion of driving under the influence.
