Suspect killed in deputy-involved shooting in South LA
LOS ANGELES - An investigation is underway in South Los Angeles after at least one deputy opened fire, shooting and killing an armed suspect Monday night.
Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies responded to a call for help on a domestic violence incident around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday in the 1500 block of East 77th Place.
According to authorities, a woman reported her ex-boyfriend - the suspect - was armed with a gun and threatening her at her home.
Responding deputies caught up with the suspect in the 7600 block of Compton Avenue, where he tried to run away, pulled out a handgun, and fired at deputies, officials said, which led to the suspect being shot. He died at the scene.
No deputies were injured.
The investigation is ongoing.
