Studio City jeweler fires gun to stop robbery attempt; suspects sought
STUDIO CITY, CA (FOX 11) - The intense surveillance video captured the moment a Studio City jeweler fired a gun to stop two armed robbers from trying to burglarize her store.
It happened at Dana Kathryn Jewelry off of Ventura Blvd. on May 25th, but the video was just released by LAPD on Thursday.
It shows two men entering the store.
One immediately pulls out a canister of bear spray and begins spraying the owner and her customers.
The other man pulls out a hammer and begins hitting the display glass in an effort to get to the loot.
The man with the spray then takes a swing at the owner with a hammer.
At some point, the men become locked inside the store, and the owner fires a gunshot.
The men break through the door and flee the scene. Neither of them were hit.
No jewelry was stolen, but the suspects are still on the loose.
If you recognize either man, you're asked to contact LAPD North Hollywood division.
