Student killed by city vehicle

An 17-year-old student of the Los Angeles International Charter High School was struck and killed by a city dump truck Tuesday morning in Highland Park. The school was closed this morning, but is NOT a LAUSD school.
LAUSD had advised all charter schools and independent schools in the area to close, according to the LAUSD.

According to a message on the Los Angeles International Charter High School website:

"Due to a potential threat to LAUSD schools, Los Angeles International Charter High School will be taking precautionary action and cancel classes today.

School will reopen Wednesday, December 16, 2016 and kids will be attending their 4th, 5th and 6th periods.

Debido a una posible amenaza al distrito escolar de Los Angeles, LAICHS tomara acción preventiva y cancelara clases el día de hoy.

La escuela reabrira el miercoles 16 de diciembre para los periodos 4, 5 y 6."
