Silver Lake residents on edge after surveillance video captures bizarre shooting
LOS ANGELES - The Los Angeles Police Department is seeking the mystery man who was captured on a security video firing shots in a Silver Lake neighborhood.
The bizarre shooting happened around 1:40 a.m. Sunday, LAPD said.
Video shows a car pull into the neighborhood at the intersection of Kenilworth Avenue and Hawick Street. The driver turns off the lights when a backseat passenger walks out, crotches down, and opens fire four times. It is unknown what or who his target was.
The gunman then goes back into the car as the vehicle disappears into the night.
"The driver was completely nuts and looked like he knew what he was doing," a neighbor told FOX 11.
The shooting took place near the murder site of 78-year-old art teacher Joseph Gatto in 2015.
