Sheriff's deputy accidentally shoots himself during Wilmington pursuit

A sheriff's deputy involved in a vehicle pursuit to the Wilmington area accidentally shot himself today, authorities said.

The shooting occurred about 4 a.m. near Alameda Street and Henry Ford Avenue in an area patrolled by the Los Angeles Police Department. The deputy's "unintentional'' wound was not life-threatening, according to the sheriff's
department.

The deputy was assigned to the sheriff's Carson Station. One of two suspects was taken into custody, according to broadcast reports. The vehicle reportedly was stolen.

No details were immediately released on what caused the accidental shooting.
