Political Expert: What you see in the Trump-Pence logo says a lot about your politics
LOS ANGELES, Calif. (FOX 11) - Soon after Trump announced his VP pick, the new campaign logo began circulating on social media. And with it, came some strong opinions.
Here's what some of them said:
Former Congressman John Dingell tweeted "What is the T doing to that P?"
Rep Alan Grayson tweeted: "This logo accurately represents what Trump Pence will do to America."
"What a logo hopes to do at its very best is reinforce a core symbol of the campaign," said political expert Dan Schnur of USC.
He says your reaction to the logo is a reflection of your political beliefs.
"In the long run I don't think it's going to make much of difference. Think of the logo as sort of a political version of a Rorschach test. You're going to see in it what you're going to see in it. And what you see in that logo, says more about you than it says about the Trump campaign," said Schnur.
He says what Trump supporters are likely focusing on, is the flag.
"The flag of course is a message of patriotism, and that reinforces a central message that Trump has been attempting to deliver throughout his entire campaign," said Schnur.
Schnur says the last minute VP pick likely lead to a last minute logo design.
"It's not a particularly good logo. While it does include a flag which reinforces one of his core messages of patriotism, the two candidates initials really doesn't tell voters very much for the good or bad," said Schnur.
Voters who don't support Trump may see the simplicity as a reflection of his entire campaign.
"Not a lot of strategic pre-thinking, not a lot of a lot of long-term planning, him acting on instinct or whim, as the mood strikes him," said Schnur.
So does the logo matter? Schnur says if it matters to voters, it matters and it's worth talking about.
