Police shoot suspect during robbery in Hemet; K-9 officer injured
(FOX 11) - A burglary escalated into an officer-involved shooting and an injured K-9 police dog in Hemet.
Officers were responding to a burglary alarm at a business just before dawn.
One suspect immediately ran off, so an officer and his K-9 partner named Duke started chasing after him.
In the Meantime, a second suspect hopped into a truck and drove straight at the officers barely missing one and hitting the K-9.
The officer fired towards the truck hitting the suspect at least once.
And even though Duke was hurt he continued chasing the other suspect and eventually took him down.
Both suspects needed medical treatment.
As for Duke he's doing just fine.
His leg was hurt in the incident as you can see and he'll likely need some time off to recover.
But he appears to be in good spirits.
